KASUR: Two Pakistani civilians were killed and another injured in alleged firing by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) near the Pakistan-India international border in Kasur, according to security sources.
The sources said three local residents from Ladhar village had moved only a few steps beyond a border pillar when BSF personnel allegedly opened fire on them without warning.
According to the sources, the three men were unarmed and none had attempted to cross the border fence.
The deceased were identified as Azmat Rasool, son of Ataullah, and Mohsin Jutt, both residents of Jattan Wali Haveli in Ladhar. Another person sustained injuries in the incident.
The sources described the firing as unprovoked and termed it a violation of the border agreement and established standard operating procedures.
Meanwhile, Indian media reports described the three Pakistani civilians as infiltrators. However, the security sources rejected the claim, maintaining that none of the men had attempted to cross the border fence.
The circumstances surrounding the incident could not be independently verified.
