TURBAT: Security forces have killed two terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Turbat city of Balochistan, security sources said on Wednesday.

According to the sources, the operation was conducted under Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3 after security forces received intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the area.

During the operation, security forces exchanged fire with the India-sponsored militants, killing two terrorists.

The sources said security forces were pursuing other militants who fled the area, while a search operation was also underway to clear the area.

They said operations against militants were continuing with an unwavering resolve to eliminate the terrorist threat.

The latest operation came a day after security forces killed six India-backed terrorists during Operation Shaaban-II in the Saran Tangi area of Balochistan.

Security forces also detained nine suspected individuals during the operation, according to security sources.

Earlier, security forces foiled an attempt by terrorists to disrupt public movement on the N-25 highway near Kalat, killing five militants and safely recovering 23 hostages.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists had established a checkpoint on the highway to abduct people, extort money and seize vehicles.

Security forces responded promptly and killed five terrorists during the operation, while a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives was recovered from the militants’ hideout.

Six trucks, three buses and two cars were also recovered from the site, according to the military’s media wing.

The latest operations come amid a continuing security challenge in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which have remained the country’s main hotspots for militant violence.

According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), KP and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related fatalities recorded across Pakistan during the second quarter of 2026.

KP was the worst-affected province, accounting for more than 61% of the deaths, or 475 fatalities, while Balochistan recorded 265 deaths, representing 34% of the total.

KP also reported the highest number of violent incidents during the quarter, with 151 cases, or 57% of the nationwide total. Balochistan recorded 94 incidents, accounting for 35%.

The figures highlighted the concentration of militant activity and violence in the two provinces, where security forces continue to conduct intelligence-based and counterterrorism operations.
