KARACHI: Weather experts have forecast rainfall across most parts of Sindh by August 2 as a developing weather system over the Bay of Bengal moves closer to the region.

According to meteorologists, the system has intensified into a deep depression and is expected to weaken into a low-pressure area before approaching areas near Sindh on July 30.

Experts said several districts across Sindh, including Hyderabad, are likely to receive heavy rainfall during the spell. They added that the intensity and distribution of rainfall will depend on the movement and strength of the weather system.

Meteorologists said Karachi could experience significant rainfall if the system shifts towards the Arabian Sea and remains active over the region. However, if it moves northwards, the port city is expected to receive only light showers.

Weather experts also warned that another weather system could develop around August 6 or 8. They said the upcoming system is expected to be stronger and may also affect Sindh.

Karachi experienced rainfall on two consecutive days, July 24 and 25, as monsoon activity continued across parts of the country.

On July 24, heavy rain was recorded on Shahrah-e-Faisal and surrounding areas, while Sohrab Goth also received intense showers. Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 6, North Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Maymar and adjoining localities witnessed rainfall, while light drizzle was reported on II Chundrigar Road and nearby areas.

On July 25, light to moderate rain continued in several parts of Karachi, including Gulshan-e-Maymar and Gadap, bringing temporary relief from the prevailing hot and humid weather.
