Pakistan defeated China 3-0 in their Pool B match of the 2026 Asian Games men’s hockey competition on Thursday to record their third consecutive victory in the tournament.

Captain Abubakar Mehmood opened the scoring in the 19th minute by converting a penalty corner before Sufyan doubled Pakistan’s lead five minutes later.

Hannan Shahid then added a third goal in the 28th minute with a field goal as Pakistan took a commanding 3-0 lead into halftime.

The match began cautiously, with neither side able to find the net in the opening quarter.

Pakistan continued to control proceedings in the second quarter, scoring three times in quick succession to put the result largely beyond China’s reach.

Zikriya Hayat was shown a green card in the third quarter, but Pakistan maintained their defensive discipline and prevented China from scoring throughout the remainder of the match.

The victory extended Pakistan’s winning run after the team opened its campaign with a 9-0 victory over Thailand before defeating Uzbekistan 5-1 in their second league-stage fixture.

With three wins from three matches, Pakistan moved to nine points and consolidated second place in Pool B with a goal difference of plus 16.

Malaysia also have nine points and currently lead the group with a superior goal difference of plus 24.

Pakistan will face Malaysia in their penultimate league-stage match on Saturday at the same venue, with the fixture set to determine the top positions in Pool B.
