WEB DESK: Iranian Interior Minister Iskandar Momani arrived in Islamabad on Monday on a high-level official visit, where he was received by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the airport.

Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghaddam and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry were also present to welcome the visiting minister. Talal Chaudhry presented a bouquet to the Iranian dignitary upon his arrival.

Welcoming his counterpart, Mohsin Naqvi expressed confidence that the visit would further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran. He also voiced hope for positive developments on regional issues during the discussions.

Later, the two interior ministers held a meeting in Islamabad, during which they discussed matters of mutual interest and ways to enhance cooperation between the neighbouring countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Iskandar Momani said he was pleased to meet Mohsin Naqvi again and described Pakistan-Iran relations as historic and deeply rooted. He also thanked the Pakistani government and people for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation.

According to state media, the Iranian interior minister is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir during his visit to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.

The visit comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following recent military exchanges between the United States and Iran, with both countries continuing to monitor the evolving regional security situation.
