ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday granted a final opportunity to the legal team of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, to present arguments in their appeals against their convictions in the £190 million case.

A written order issued by a bench comprising Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif said the court accepted a request to adjourn the proceedings after senior counsel Sardar Latif Khosa gave an undertaking that he would argue the appeals at the next hearing.

The order noted that Khosa, whose power of attorney on behalf of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi is already on record, assured the court that he would not seek any further adjournment and would present his arguments at the next hearing.

Accepting the undertaking, the bench adjourned the case but made it clear that this was the final opportunity being granted to the defence.

The court warned that if the appellants’ counsel failed to present arguments at the next hearing, no further adjournment would be allowed.

Instead, the bench said it would hear submissions from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and decide the appeals on the basis of the available record.
