Gilgit-Baltistan election results partially withheld as re-polling ordered

Gilgit-Baltistan

ISLAMABAD: Gilgit-Baltistan’s Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz has announced that final results from several constituencies will remain on hold until re-polling is completed in selected polling stations next week.

According to the Election Commission, re-polling will be held on June 15 in parts of five constituencies:

  • GBA-8
  • GBA-13 (Astore)
  • GBA-15 (Diamer-I)
  • GBA-16 (Diamer-II)
  • GBA-17 (Diamer-III)

The decision comes after complaints from major political parties — including the Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl — regarding alleged irregularities, delayed result announcements, and Form-45 concerns.

Officials said Form-47s have been prepared, but will not be issued until re-polling is completed, meaning the overall results remain provisional.

PPP leads but no majority yet

Unofficial results still show the Pakistan Peoples Party as the single largest party, winning around 10 seats, followed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz with 4 seats, independents with 7, and one seat for MWM.

With no party securing a majority, coalition talks are expected, with early indications of a possible PPP–PML-N power-sharing arrangement in Gilgit-Baltistan, including a proposed division of key posts and ministries.

If you want, I can break down who is likely to form the government after re-polling or explain the Form-45 vs Form-47 issue in simple terms.
