RAWALPINDI: A man was seen clinging to the bonnet of a moving car after a motorcycle became trapped underneath the vehicle and was dragged along the road in Rawalpindi, with the incident later going viral on social media.

According to traffic police, the incident occurred on Friday night within the jurisdiction of New Town Police Station after two vehicles were involved in an accident on Murree Road.

The collision was followed by a heated exchange between the parties, officials said.

Police said the man seen on the car’s bonnet was the owner of another vehicle involved in the accident, which was not visible in the video. His vehicle had allegedly been hit and damaged by the car seen in the footage.

The man climbed onto the car’s bonnet in an attempt to stop the driver and seek compensation for the damage, according to traffic police.

As the car continued moving, a parked motorcycle came into its path and became trapped underneath the vehicle. The car dragged the motorcycle along the road while the man remained on the bonnet, with sparks visible as the motorcycle struck the road surface.

Following the incident, police took the owners of both vehicles to the police station, where the two parties reached a settlement, traffic police said.

However, after the video circulated on social media, police initiated proceedings on their own complaint, saying legal action would be taken over violations of the law.

City Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam directed the circle in-charge of Murree Road to register a case against those involved.

“Strict action will be taken against those who put the lives of others at risk,” Aslam said.

Police said further legal proceedings would be carried out in accordance with the law.
