ISLAMABAD: Security forces have killed 49 terrorists in a series of intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

According to the military’s media wing, 12 militants were killed in KP and 37 in Balochistan during operations targeting militant networks in several districts.

In KP, intelligence-based operations were conducted in Bannu, North Waziristan, Orakzai and Khyber, where 12 militants affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij were killed.

Security forces also recovered explosives, IED detonating devices, weapons, ammunition and motorcycles from the areas.

In Balochistan, 10 intelligence-based operations were carried out in Mastung, Mach, Khuzdar and Panjgur, resulting in the killing of 37 militants affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan.

Weapons, explosive drums and remote-detonation devices were also recovered and subsequently destroyed.

The ISPR said the operations had dealt a major blow to militant networks and thwarted attempts to undermine peace and stability.

The military said clearance operations were continuing to eliminate remaining Indian-sponsored militants and other terrorists.

Security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam regime until the threat of terrorism is eliminated, the ISPR said.
