Tight Security in Twin Cities: Metro Bus Service Adjusted for Pakistan–South Africa Test Match

In view of security arrangements for the second Test match between Pakistan and South Africa in Rawalpindi, the Metro Bus Service operating between the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi will experience temporary suspensions at specific hours, according to the Metro Bus Authority.

The service will remain suspended for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening during the arrival and departure of the cricket teams to and from the stadium. This measure aims to ensure smooth movement and enhanced security for both teams and match officials.

During the match, three Metro stations — Rehmanabad, Shamsabad, and Faizabad — will remain closed, while buses will continue operations without stopping at these stations. The temporary closure will remain in effect throughout the duration of the Test match.

Additionally, the Metro Bus Service from Rawalpindi to Blue Area will remain completely suspended for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening during the teams’ movement, the Metro Bus Authority confirmed. These measures have been implemented strictly for security reasons.

To reinforce on-ground vigilance, police personnel have been deployed at key Metro stations and onboard select buses. Security staff will accompany each bus departing from Chandni Chowk Station, while additional officers have been stationed along the IJP route to ensure the safety of passengers and smooth operations throughout the event.
