WEB DESK: Thatta Cement Company Limited (THCCL) has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Minsk Work Tractor & Assembling (Private) Limited (MWTA), has signed an exclusive agreement with OJSC Minsk Tractor Works, Belarus, to assemble and locally manufacture Belarus tractors in Balochistan.
The company disclosed the development in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday, terming it a strategic milestone that will drive industrial growth, technology transfer, and job creation in the province.
Boost for Agriculture and Industry
Under the agreement, Minsk Tractor Works has granted MWTA exclusive rights to assemble Belarus tractors in Balochistan. The collaboration is seen as a breakthrough for Pakistan’s agricultural and industrial sectors, which are increasingly adopting mechanisation to improve crop yields and farming efficiency.
Belarus tractors, produced since 1950 and exported to over 100 countries, are globally recognised for their durability, ease of maintenance, and adaptability to diverse terrains.
Industry experts estimate that the demand for locally assembled Belarus tractors in Pakistan could reach up to 2,800 units in the next five years, reflecting growing interest in high-power, efficient agricultural machinery.
Job Creation and Technology Transfer
Thatta Cement said the project will play a vital role in local manufacturing, employment generation, and transfer of modern industrial technology to Balochistan.
“The agreement signifies a major strategic development for the company’s subsidiary and is expected to have a positive impact on the long-term growth and diversification of Thatta Cement Group’s business portfolio,” the company statement read.

Beyond Cement: A Diversification Strategy
Founded in 1980, Thatta Cement has been primarily engaged in cement manufacturing and marketing. However, in recent years the group has expanded its footprint into new industries, including power generation through Thatta Power (Private) Limited.
With the new tractor assembly venture, Thatta Cement positions itself as a key player in Pakistan’s agricultural modernisation drive, contributing to national development goals and promoting industrial self-reliance.
