COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Cricket on Thursday announced a 16-member squad, led by Charith Asalanka, for the two-match One-day International series against Zimbabwe in Harare later this month.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) noted that all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been left out after failing to recover from a hamstring injury sustained during the T20I series against Bangladesh in July. He also missed the subsequent ODI series against Bangladesh, which Sri Lanka won 2-1 at home.
The two ODIs against Zimbabwe will be played on August 29 and 31 in Harare. The tour will continue with three Twenty20 internationals from September 3 to 7, for which the squad has yet to be announced. All five fixtures are scheduled in Harare.
Sri Lanka last toured Zimbabwe for a limited-overs series in November 2008. After the tour, the side will travel to the United Arab Emirates to participate in the Asia Cup T20 tournament, beginning September 9.
