Rawalpindi: Security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in the general area of Dogar, Kurram District, following reports of the presence of terrorists affiliated with the Indian proxy network Fitna al Khwarij, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Wednesday.
During the operation, seven Indian-sponsored militants were killed in an effective engagement by security troops.
However, in the ensuing exchange of fire, Captain Noman Saleem (24, resident of Mianwali), a young medical officer who fought courageously while providing medical care, embraced shahadat along with five soldiers.
The martyred soldiers were identified as:
- Havildar Amjad Ali (39, Swabi)
- Naik Waqas Ahmad (36, Rawalpindi)
- Sepoy Aijaz Ali (23, Shikarpur)
- Sepoy Muhammad Waleed (23, Jhelum)
- Sepoy Muhammad Shahbaz (32, Khairpur)
ISPR stated that a sanitization operation is underway to clear the area of any remaining militants.
The statement reaffirmed that Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam—approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan—will continue with full resolve to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
