Sialkot schools shut as floods worsen

SIALKOT: The Punjab government on Thursday ordered closure of all educational institutions in Sialkot after severe flooding hit the district, while the collapse of Guna Bridge on the Sialkot–Pasrur Road severed the land link between the two cities.

A notification issued by the authorities directed strict compliance with the shutdown order to ensure public safety.

Rivers rising across Punjab

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said the Chenab River at Head Marala was in high flood, with an inflow of 397,000 cusecs and discharge of around 390,000 cusecs.
