Schools Reopen Across Punjab After Summer Vacation

LAHORE: All schools across Punjab resumed classes on Monday under revised timings, except for those located in flood-affected areas.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, all schools in the city reopened on September 1. However, 45 schools have been closed for another seven days as they are currently being used as relief camps.

33 govt, 12 private schools closed in Lahore

The notification stated that 33 government and 12 private schools in Lahore will remain closed. These include Central Model School on Rattigan Road as well as institutions in Maraka, Manga, Chuhang, Shadab Colony, Saggian, Tar Garh Shahdara, Bund Road Shafiqabad, and Pari Mahal Shahdara.

Schools in Thokar Niaz Baig, Shahpur Kanjran, Bund Road, Gawshala, Rangeel Pur, Khurd Pur, Chhagian Bhama, Mohlanwal, Multan Road, and Manawal will also stay shut.

Flood damages in Chiniot, Sahiwal

Meanwhile, in Chiniot, five major health centres and 88 schools have been severely damaged by floods, making it impossible to resume academic activities.

In Sahiwal, the Deputy Commissioner announced that 74 schools will remain closed for another seven days due to flood-related challenges.

Revised school timings until Oct 15

The Punjab School Education Department has notified new school timings for all public institutions, effective until October 15, 2025. The schedule applies to single-shift, double-shift, and afternoon schools.

Separate working hours have been set for teachers, with additional time allocated for lesson planning, training, and co-curricular activities.

The department directed District Education Authorities to ensure strict compliance, warning that negligence or violations would invite legal action. A 15-minute relaxation has been allowed for girls’ schools at opening and closing times.
