Rs1.7m looted in Islamabad as fake cops ‘search’ citizen

ISLAMABAD: A gang of swindlers looted Rs1.7 million from a citizen outside a bank in Islamabad’s I-8 Sector before fleeing the scene.

According to details, six suspects surrounded the victim shortly after he exited the bank. Two of them posed as police officers and, under the pretext of conducting a search, took the money from him before escaping in a vehicle.

The victim, identified as Abdul Rauf, has submitted a complaint regarding the incident to the I-9 Industrial Area Police Station.

Islamabad Police confirmed that a case has been registered and said an investigation is underway, adding that the culprits will be brought to justice through legal action.
