LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday inaugurated the province’s first Mobile Police Station and Licensing Unit project, designed to provide policing and licensing services directly to citizens’ doorsteps.

The mobile units will facilitate citizens with FIR registration, learner and regular driving licences, renewals, international licences, and services tailored for women and educational institutions.

Inspecting the mobile facility, the chief minister handed over keys to officers and directed staff to treat citizens with courtesy and compassion.

Officials briefed the chief minister that 33 mobile police stations and licensing units will operate across Punjab, while seven “Pink” mobile units—staffed entirely by women—will cater exclusively to female citizens.

A travel schedule will be released to keep the public informed about the arrival of the mobile units in various districts.

Maryam said the initiative aims to enhance accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in public service delivery, particularly in remote areas.

In September, the chief minister also launched the electric bus service in Wazirabad, part of a province-wide plan to expand eco-friendly public transport and curb carbon emissions amid the country’s worsening climate challenges.
