LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced a project to construct 57,000 affordable housing units across the province for deserving families.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Housing Department, the project will be executed in collaboration with the World Bank and the private sector. In the first phase, 20,000 housing units will be built on 41 selected sites across 21 districts of the province, all on government land.
The spokesperson said the houses will be provided to deserving individuals on easy installments, while the entire project is expected to be completed within five years.

He added that strict monitoring and regular quality checks will be ensured during the construction phase to maintain transparency and standards.
The project will soon be presented before the provincial cabinet for formal approval.
