LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a special education package for students belonging to flood-affected districts, aimed at easing financial burdens and ensuring continuity of education.
Under the package, tuition fees for one semester of all students from flood-hit districts have been waived, while BS first-year students will also be exempted from admission fees. The relief will benefit students from Muzaffargarh, Multan, Lodhran, Vehari, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Chiniot, and Kasur.
The registration deadline for universities located in these districts has been extended by 20 days, while the application deadline for the “Hunarmand Scholarship” has been extended by one month.
“Despite the devastation caused by floods, I will not let the education of our boys and girls suffer,” CM Maryam Nawaz said, stressing that the initiative was designed to provide immediate relief to parents and facilitate youth in continuing their studies.

She further assured that all-out efforts were underway for rehabilitation and compensation for flood victims, reaffirming her government’s commitment to prioritising education alongside disaster recovery.
