Punjab drug authority orders immediate recall of substandard medicines

LAHORE: Punjab’s Drug Control Authority has ordered the immediate withdrawal of several substandard medicine batches from the market after the Punjab Drug Testing Laboratory declared 18 drugs from different companies as substandard.

A batch of the rabies vaccine was among those found substandard, with authorities directing its urgent recall. Other medicines declared substandard include veterinary injection Rasomycin-S, injection Cyanaphor 50 ml, injection Metrosurise, and eye drops Bromide-D 5 ml.

Additional products identified as substandard are injection Aqua-P, Cefetid, Ivermecht, Metro Cure, infusion Zolrest, injection Cluot, Pharmopen LA, and film-coated tablets Daisy 10 mg. Two batches of injection Alacon and injection Orifast-50 were also listed, along with Bicaclear catheter tubes and injection Metro M-100.

Punjab Drug Control has instructed all companies to immediately recall the affected batches and stop their use. Healthcare professionals have been advised to suspend the administration of these drugs, while retailers, pharmacies, and distributors have been directed to report records of the substandard medicines without delay.
