PSB launches scrutiny of hockey clubs ahead of PHF elections

Hockey

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), in collaboration with the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), has formally initiated the scrutiny process of hockey clubs across the country, a key reform ahead of the upcoming PHF elections.

A PSB spokesperson said the exercise aims to ensure transparency and credibility in the electoral process. The scrutiny is being conducted under an approved, jointly agreed procedure, implemented by the PHF under the supervision of the PSB.

“This is a fair, uniform, and rule-based process carried out jointly by PSB and PHF to guarantee trustworthy and credible elections,” the spokesperson added.

All hockey clubs seeking participation in the PHF elections, whether existing or newly formed, will be evaluated against the approved criteria. A national scrutiny committee, comprising representatives from both PSB and PHF, has been formed to oversee the process.

Club data is being collected through an online portal, with PSB maintaining full monitoring and audit access. The review will primarily be document-based, and clubs will be given a one-time opportunity for corrections where necessary. Eligible clubs will then be officially published.

A clear system has also been established for objections and appeals. Affected clubs may submit their concerns within a specified timeframe. Appeals will first be heard by the PHF, with the final decision made by an adjudicator appointed by the PSB.

The PSB stressed that any scrutiny or electoral activity conducted outside this joint procedure will not be recognized.
