ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday to discuss key national issues.
The prime minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Rana Sanaullah, Interior and Narcotics Control Minister Senator Mohsin Naqvi, Law, Justice and Human Rights Minister Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Senator Sherry Rehman, and Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari.
The meeting covered important national matters, including the prevailing political and security situation, as well as regional and international developments impacting Pakistan’s strategic and economic interests.
Prime Minister Sharif briefed the president on his recent visits to Egypt and Malaysia, where he met world leaders and discussed efforts for peace in Gaza.

Later, the president Zardari and the prime minister also held a one-on-one meeting to exchange views on national priorities and the overall direction of government policies.
Both leaders agreed to continue political consultation on issues of national importance.
