President Zardari hails China’s earthquake-safe bullet train

CHENGDU: President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday travelled from Chengdu to Mianyang on China’s high-speed electric train equipped with an advanced earthquake warning system, completing the journey in just 30 minutes.

During the trip, the president was briefed on the train’s operations, services, and safety mechanisms.

China currently operates the world’s largest high-speed rail network, spanning 45,000 kilometres and serving over two billion passengers annually.

Its trains run at speeds of up to 350 kilometres per hour on a standardised and uniform network, which has become a hallmark of modern connectivity.

President Zardari described the environmentally friendly electric train and the earthquake warning system as “a marvel of engineering.” He remarked that China’s spirit of innovation served as a lesson for Pakistan and other nations.
