ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Malaysia on Sunday for a three-day official visit at the invitation of his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, he is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers and senior government officials.
Before departure, the premier said he was looking forward to a “comprehensive exchange of views” with PM Ibrahim, expressing confidence that bilateral relations would further strengthen through enhanced economic and strategic engagement.
In a post on X, he wrote: “Greatly looking forward to a comprehensive exchange of views on our common desire to enhance trade and economic engagement as well as bilateral cooperation in various fields.”
During the visit, the two leaders will hold formal talks and review key regional and global developments, the Foreign Office said.

They are expected to discuss cooperation in trade, IT, telecom, the Halal industry, investment, education, energy, infrastructure, the digital economy, and people-to-people linkages. Multiple agreements and MoUs in existing and new sectors are also expected to be signed.
The FO said the visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Malaysia, terming the partnership “strong, enduring and rooted in mutual respect and shared interests.”
