PM Shehbaz arrives in Egypt to attend peace summit

SHARM EL-SHEIKH: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Sharm El-Sheikh on Friday on a special invitation extended by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit aimed at brokering a ceasefire in Gaza.

Upon his arrival at Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport, the premier was warmly received by Egypt’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Dr Ashraf Sobhy, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Aamer Shaukat, along with senior diplomatic officials from both Pakistan and Egypt.

The prime minister is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar as part of the official delegation.

PM Shehbaz is scheduled to participate in the high-level summit focused on establishing a ceasefire in Gaza. The summit is being attended by key regional and global leaders including US President Donald Trump, Egyptian President El-Sisi, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The prime minister will also attend the special signing ceremony of the Gaza Peace Accord, which aims to bring an end to hostilities in the besieged Palestinian territory.
