Afghanistan Pulls Out, Zimbabwe Joins Pakistan’s Tri-Nation T20 Series

Zimbabwe has accepted the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) invitation to participate in the upcoming tri-nation T20 tournament. According to the PCB, Zimbabwe will replace Afghanistan, which had earlier withdrawn from the event. The three-nation series will feature Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka competing against each other.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from November 17 to 29 in Rawalpindi and Lahore. The opening match of the series will be played between Pakistan and Zimbabwe on November 17 in Rawalpindi. The second match, between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, is set for November 19, also in Rawalpindi. The tournament will then move to Lahore for the remaining fixtures.

On November 22, Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in Lahore, followed by Pakistan taking on Zimbabwe on November 23. The clash between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka will be held on November 25, while Pakistan and Sri Lanka will meet again on November 27. The final of the tri-nation tournament is scheduled for November 29 in Lahore.

It is worth noting that after Afghanistan withdrew from the series, the PCB had announced that the tournament would proceed as planned, with a replacement team being considered. Zimbabwe has now officially confirmed its participation, ensuring the event continues without disruption.

Afghanistan’s withdrawal came amid rising tensions with Pakistan. The Afghanistan Cricket Board reportedly followed the Indian Cricket Board’s stance by suspending bilateral engagements with Pakistan. Consequently, Afghanistan pulled out of the tri-nation series that was originally planned to feature Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka in November.
