Pakistan, Saudi Arabia vow deeper defence cooperation in high-level Riyadh meeting

ISLAMABAD: Lieutenant General Syed Aamer Raza, Chief of General Staff (CGS) Pakistan Army, met General Fayyadh Bin Hameed Al-Rowaily, Chief of General Staff of the Royal Saudi Armed Forces, during an official visit to Riyadh.

The meeting focused on matters of mutual strategic interest, particularly the enhancement of bilateral defence cooperation, improved interoperability between the two militaries, and progress under the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA).

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening the long-standing fraternal ties between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, emphasizing their shared dedication to advancing regional peace, stability and self-reliance.

A Special Meeting of the Pakistan–KSA Bilateral Defence Industrial Forum was also held in Riyadh. The Pakistan tri-services delegation was led by Lieutenant General Syed Aamer Raza, while the Saudi side was headed by H.E. Mr. Khalid Al Biyari, Assistant Minister of Defence for Executive Affairs.

During the session, both delegations reviewed the progress of existing defence cooperation projects and explored new avenues for joint ventures in emerging technologies, aligned with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Lieutenant General Syed Aamer Raza reiterated Pakistan’s continued support for the capacity-building of the Royal Saudi Defence Forces. The Saudi leadership appreciated Pakistan’s steadfast commitments, achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, as well as its significant contributions to regional peace and stability.
