ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Yarmook, operating under the Saudi-led Combined Task Force 150 (CTF-150) of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), successfully executed a major counter-narcotics operation in the North Arabian Sea, seizing narcotics valued at approximately USD 972 million.
According to a Pakistan Navy statement, the operation underscores Pakistan’s firm resolve to ensure maritime security, combat illicit trafficking, and contribute to regional and global peace efforts.
CTF-150 is a multinational coalition focused on maintaining stability and deterring terrorism, smuggling, and other illegal maritime activities across the high seas. Pakistan’s active participation in this task force highlights its role as a responsible maritime partner in the wider Indian Ocean Region.
Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, commended the crew of PNS Yarmook for their professionalism and dedication, praising the successful mission as a testament to the Navy’s operational readiness and international cooperation.
He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Navy remains steadfast in safeguarding national maritime interests and enhancing interoperability with allied navies through coordinated operations. Admiral Ashraf further noted that PNS Yarmook’s successful mission under a Saudi-led command would strengthen defence collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, while reinforcing joint efforts against transnational crimes at sea.
The Pakistan Navy continues to play a vital role in ensuring maritime stability and preventing the exploitation of sea routes by criminal networks, reaffirming its commitment to peace, security, and the rule of law across the region.
