Pakistan, China discuss strategic, energy and mineral cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister Ali Pervez Malik met Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the Chinese Embassy, where both sides reviewed ongoing strategic relations and discussed avenues of cooperation in the energy and minerals sectors, according to an official statement.

During the meeting, the Chinese ambassador reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to Pakistan’s economic development, saying that China “will continue to support the economic progress of the Pakistani people.”

Ali Pervez Malik extended a formal invitation to the ambassador for China’s participation in the upcoming Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum 2026. Ambassador Jiang welcomed the invitation, noting that mining remains a key pillar of China–Pakistan collaboration.

He highlighted that major Chinese companies, including MCC and CNAC, are actively engaged in Pakistan’s mining sector. He added that the Saindak and Siyadak mineral projects are among China’s most significant initiatives in Pakistan’s mineral development landscape.

Ambassador Jiang further said that China would encourage the heads of its relevant institutions to attend the 2026 investment forum.

During the meeting, Ali Pervez Malik reiterated that Pakistan fully supports China’s sovereignty and stands firmly with Beijing.
