KARACHI: Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for the next instalment of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s Monster anthology, this time centred on Ed Gein — the infamous “Butcher of Plainfield.”
Charlie Hunnam takes on the lead role, with the trailer promising a deeply unsettling portrayal of Gein’s crimes. Speaking to Variety, the actor admitted he initially struggled with the role.
“I had the nightmares before I started. Once I got into it, it was a little easier,” Hunnam said, adding that his research left him questioning his decision. “I thought maybe I’d made a horrible mistake when I realized just how despicable some of the stuff he did was.”
He explained that the series explores “a very, sort of, varied version” of Gein, showing not only his brutality but also glimpses of humanity. “He’s one of the more gentle monsters,” Hunnam remarked. “Monstrous no doubt, but he has his gentle side to him.”
