ISLAMABAD: Preparations are in full swing across the country to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) tomorrow (Saturday) with great religious fervour and reverence. The occasion will coincide with Defence Day, making it a historic double commemoration.
The government has declared a public holiday on account of both events. This year carries added significance as it marks the 1500th Eid Milad-un-Nabi, for which both Houses of Parliament passed a unanimous resolution.
Seerat Conference, Mehfil-e-Naat
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has finalised arrangements for an International Seerat Conference in Islamabad, to be attended by religious scholars, ulema, diplomats, and delegates from home and abroad.
A special Mehfil-e-Naat is also being held in the federal capital today (Friday), featuring prominent Naat Khawans from across the country.
Cities, towns, and villages are being decorated with green flags, buntings, and colourful lights. Mosques, government buildings, and marketplaces have been illuminated, while religious and social organisations have planned programmes to highlight the teachings and life of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).
Defence Day commemorations
Defence Day will also be observed tomorrow to pay tribute to the martyrs and ghazis of the 1965 war.
The day will begin with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals. Special prayers will be offered for the country’s security, prosperity, and for the independence of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
