PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Education Department has imposed an immediate ban on all postings and transfers of teachers across the province, citing the need to ensure uninterrupted academic activities as schools reopen.
According to a departmental notification, the decision aims to curb frequent disruptions in classrooms caused by mid-session transfers. Officials cautioned that any teachers or staff visiting the secretariat with transfer requests would face disciplinary action.
The department has also announced a new framework under which transfers will only be carried out once a year through the e-transfer policy, designed to ensure transparency and fairness. “All transfers will now be processed digitally to minimize political interference and favoritism,” an official said, adding that the new mechanism will also help address teacher shortages in rural and remote areas.

The ban takes effect immediately and will remain in place until the next transfer cycle. Officials noted that exceptions would be considered only in cases of medical emergencies or extreme hardship.
Education experts have welcomed the move, saying it could help bring stability to schools, though they stressed that the government must also address long-standing issues such as lack of facilities, overcrowded classrooms, and teacher absenteeism.
