KARACHI: A post-mortem examination of a seven-year-old boy, whose body was found inside a bag in the Landhi area, confirmed signs of rape and head injury, Police Surgeon Dr. Sumaiya Tariq said on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as Saad Ali, had been missing for four days after leaving home on September 18 to buy sweets from a nearby shop. His body was discovered stuffed in a bag dumped near Lal Mazar in Landhi.
Dr. Tariq said the medical report confirmed that the child had suffered sexual assault and died due to a blow to the head. Samples from body organs have been sent for chemical analysis to establish further evidence.
Funeral prayers for the victim were offered in Landhi 36B, where the grieving family resides. His father, Salman, told reporters that despite filing a missing complaint, the police failed to assist the family in searching for his son.
He said officers did not even bother to review CCTV footage from cameras near the garbage dump where Saad’s body was eventually found. “We had no choice but to look for him ourselves,” Salman said, demanding departmental action against the police for negligence and calling for the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.

Police officials said they were in contact with the family and would register a first information report (FIR) after the boy’s burial.
The brutal killing comes only days after a man in Karachi’s Qayyumabad area confessed before a magistrate to sexually assaulting several children.
According to Sahil’s annual Cruel Numbers 2024 report, as many as 3,364 child abuse cases were reported last year across the country, including the four provinces, Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan — averaging nine children abused per day.
