LAHORE: Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh took oath as the Acting Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday. The oath was administered by Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza in a simple but dignified ceremony held at the Judges Lounge of the court.
The appointment came after a federal government notification following Chief Justice Alia Neelum’s departure abroad to attend the International Judicial Conference. Justice Sheikh will serve as Acting Chief Justice during her absence.
The ceremony was attended by LHC judges, the president of the LHC Bar Association, federal and provincial law officers, and a large number of lawyers. Attendees extended their congratulations to Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh on assuming his new responsibilities.
