ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Tuesday recommended that 10 additional judges of the Sindh High Court be made permanent during a meeting chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi.
According to a statement issued by the Supreme Court after the meeting, the commission, by a majority of its total membership, approved the confirmation of the additional judges after considering their data forms, antecedents and other relevant material placed before it.
The judges recommended for confirmation are Miran Muhammad Shah, Tasneem Sultana, Riazat Ali Sahar, Muhammad Hasan (Akber), Abdul Hamid Bhurgi, Jan Ali Junejo, Nisar Ahmed Bhanbhro, Ali Haider “Ada”, Muhammad Osman Ali Hadi and Muhammad Jaffer Raza.
However, two additional judges of the Sindh High Court — Khalid Hussain Shahani and Syed Fiaz ul Hassan Shah — were granted a six-month extension.
The JCP also nominated four Sindh High Court judges to serve on the constitutional benches and extended the tenure of the constitutional benches for another six months. The nominated judges are Amjad Ali Bohio, Muhammad Hasan (Akber), Ali Haider “Ada” and Muhammad Osman Ali Hadi.
A day earlier, the Judicial Commission had recommended the confirmation of three additional judges of the Islamabad High Court — Muhammad Azam Khan, Muhammad Asif and Inaam Ameen Minhas — as well as Najam-ud-Din Mengal as a judge of the Balochistan High Court.
