TEHRAN: Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, has said that Iran is prepared to eradicate terrorism and secure its common border with Pakistan through joint measures.
Speaking to Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, over the phone on Tuesday, Gen Mousavi pointed to increasing cross-border movements of terrorist groups and stressed the need for collective efforts to eliminate the threat.
He also conveyed sympathy with the flood-affected people of Pakistan, saying Iran stood ready to extend any possible assistance to its “dear brothers” across the border. Gen Mousavi further expressed satisfaction over bilateral ties and lauded Pakistan’s stance in support of Iran during the recent 12-day conflict with Israel.

Field Marshal Munir, in response, thanked his Iranian counterpart for his expression of solidarity and also conveyed condolences for the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to enhanced cooperation on border security, stating that both countries should work to turn the shared frontier into one of “friendship, brotherhood and economic development.”
