Iran envoy hails wrestling team’s world title win

Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Dr Reza Amiri Moghadam on Monday congratulated Iranian wrestlers for winning the championship title at the World Junior Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships in Bulgaria.

The Iran side secured its sixth world title with a haul of one gold, two silver and two bronze medals, accumulating 117 points overall. The victory reinforced Iran’s standing as one of the dominant forces in international wrestling.

In his statement, Dr Amiri Moghadam described the athletes as “champions who have once again demonstrated the strength and heritage of Iranian wrestling before the world”.

The envoy also praised the Armenian and Azerbaijani teams, which finished second and third, for their “dedication, sportsmanship and courage”, calling their performance a source of pride for the global wrestling community.

“Wrestling continues to unite and inspire. Here’s to the spirit of competition and friendship among nations,” he added.
