Indonesian president to visit Pakistan on Dec 8–9

Indonesia

ISLAMABAD: Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto will visit Islamabad from 8 to 9 December on the invitation of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. A high-level delegation of key ministers and senior officials will accompany him.

This is Prabowo’s first trip to Pakistan. The last Indonesian presidential visit was by Joko Widodo in 2018. The visit holds added significance as both countries mark 75 years of diplomatic relations.

During his stay, Prabowo will hold delegation-level talks with the prime minister. He will also meet President Asif Ali Zardari. The Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, will call on him as well.

Both sides will discuss ways to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, defence, health, IT, climate, education and culture. Collaboration at regional and global forums will also be reviewed. Several MoUs are expected to be signed during the visit.
