India dragging politics Into cricket: Mohsin Naqvi

India

Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Mohsin Naqvi has strongly criticised the Indian media, accusing it of spreading misinformation regarding his interaction with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

In a statement shared on social media, Naqvi said, “The Indian media does not thrive on facts, but on lies.” He firmly denied reports suggesting he had apologised to the BCCI.

“I have done nothing wrong. I have not sought any apology from the BCCI, nor will I ever do so,” he said.

Naqvi described the Indian media’s claims as “fabricated reports that serve no purpose other than propaganda.” He added that the intention behind such falsehoods is merely “to mislead their own people.”

Lamenting the politicisation of cricket, Naqvi remarked, “Unfortunately, India continues to drag politics into the sport, damaging the spirit of the game.”

Reiterating his earlier stance on the disputed trophy matter, he said, “I was ready to hand over the trophy then, and I am still ready now. If the Indian cricket board wants it, they can come to the ACC office and collect it from me.”
