Islamabad: The federal government on Tuesday jacked up fuel prices for the third consecutive fortnight, raising petrol by Rs5.36 to Rs272.15 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs11.37 to Rs284.35 per litre, effective from July 16.
Products | Existing prices | New prices | Increase |

MS (Petrol) | Rs266.79 | Rs272.15 | Rs5.36 |
The hike comes on the back of recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), citing global price fluctuations and adjustments from the relevant ministries.

Last fortnight, the government had increased petrol by Rs8.36 and diesel by Rs10.39 per litre. The relentless surge has hit the middle and lower-income segments hardest, with petrol being a lifeline for motorbikes, rickshaws, and small vehicles.
Meanwhile, the spike in diesel — a key fuel for freight transport, agriculture, and public transit — is expected to drive up prices of essential goods, including vegetables and other food staples.
