FIA uncovers gang attempting to defame CPEC, multiple forgery cases registered

Islamabad: A gang involved in attempts to defame the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been exposed in a new scam, officials said. During an ongoing investigation, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) found that the gang leader, Raja Muhammad Saeed, had created a fake letter to claim innocence and even forged the signature of an FIA SHO.

Sources said the letter included the month and year but omitted the exact date, revealing its fraudulent nature. The investigation confirmed that Raja Muhammad Saeed was not involved in any fraud. However, other members of the gang were found to be wanted in multiple cases and involved in over 40 criminal incidents.

The suspects face more than 40 cases of forgery registered in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Taxila, including at Police Stations Race Course, Arya Bazaar, Rawat, and Taxila. In Islamabad, cases were filed at Police Stations Bani Gala Industrial Area, Tarnol, Ramna, and several others.

FIA has obtained official records, and courts have declared several gang members as absconders. Investigations also revealed that Raja Saeed and co-accused Mehtab Qureshi falsely claimed to represent China Three Gorges Corporation.

The FIA continues its probe to collect further evidence and fully investigate attempts to malign the CPEC project.
