ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has intensified its internal accountability process under the supervision of Director General Riffat Mukhtar Raja, taking strict disciplinary action against officials involved in corruption, negligence, and poor investigations.

According to an FIA spokesperson, during the past two months, departmental proceedings were initiated against several officers accused of corruption and substandard investigation practices. As a result, 12 officials have been penalized, including two inspectors, seven sub-inspectors, and one lower division clerk, who were dismissed from service on charges of corruption, poor investigation, and absenteeism.

Additionally, two inspectors have been demoted to the rank of sub-inspector. The dismissed officials were serving in Lahore, Islamabad, and Faisalabad zones.

The spokesperson further stated that three inspectors, ten sub-inspectors, one ASI, and one constable were handed minor penalties for poor performance and unsatisfactory investigations. Similarly, an assistant, two upper division clerks, and a lower division clerk were also awarded minor punishments.

DG FIA Riffat Mukhtar Raja emphasized that there is no room for corruption, negligence, or malpractice within the agency. He reiterated that a strict accountability process is underway to cleanse the organization of corruption and black sheep.

“Firm action is being taken against officials involved in illegal activities,” the DG said, adding that accountability is the only way to eradicate human trafficking and corruption from the institution. “Officers found guilty of negligence will face appropriate punishment,” he concluded.
