ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has written a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi from Adiala Jail, highlighting his grievances over solitary confinement and the treatment of his wife, former first lady Bushra Bibi.

On Thursday, Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan submitted the letter at the Supreme Court, saying: “We have come here to deliver the founding PTI leader’s letter to the Chief Justice.” Other sisters of the former prime minister were also present.

In his letter, Imran Khan complained that “the doors of justice have been closed” on him and his spouse. He claimed he had been kept in solitary detention for 772 days, describing his 9×11 cell as a “cage.”

The PTI founder further alleged that over 300 political cases had been registered against him, arguing that “such an example does not exist in Pakistan’s history.” He also voiced concern over Bushra Bibi’s health, saying doctors were not being allowed to examine her.

Khan urged the chief justice to intervene and ensure that his and his wife’s legal and constitutional rights were safeguarded.

Earlier this year, Adiala jail authorities had clarified that Khan was being provided all facilities permitted under the law for B-Class prisoners, including customised meals, healthcare, newspapers, books, and exercise facilities. Officials insisted he was being treated better than other inmates in the same category, with a cook assigned to prepare his food and access to a private courtyard for walking and cycling.
