ISLAMABAD: A video showing alleged police Dolphin Squad violence against a husband and wife in the federal capital has surfaced online, triggering swift action from authorities.

The footage, reportedly recorded by a local resident, appears to show members of the Dolphin Squad stopping a couple outside their residence in Islamabad’s F-8 sector before physically assaulting them.

In the video, the person filming can be heard urging others to record the incident, alleging that officers were beating citizens without justification and had struck a woman.

Police sources said the altercation began after Dolphin Squad personnel stopped the couple to check their identification cards, which led to a heated exchange.

Following the circulation of the video, Islamabad Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi ordered immediate action. A police spokesperson confirmed that all officers allegedly involved in the incident have been suspended.

The IGP stated that inappropriate behaviour and physical mistreatment of citizens are unacceptable and that strict departmental proceedings have been initiated against those responsible.

On his instructions, a formal inquiry has been launched, while SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza has begun investigating the matter.

Police said further action will be taken in light of the findings of the inquiry.
