Court extends Ducky Bhai’s physical remand in gambling apps case

Ducky Bhai

LAHORE: A district court on Thursday extended the physical remand of YouTuber Saad-ur-Rehman — popularly known as Ducky Bhai — for another four days in a case related to the promotion of illegal online gambling applications.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) produced the social media personality before Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo after the expiry of his initial remand. Prosecutors told the court that a forensic review of his electronic devices and financial transactions was still underway and sought additional custody.

The YouTuber’s counsel, Advocate Chaudhry Usman Ali, opposed the plea, arguing that investigators already had access to his mobile phone and laptop, making further remand unnecessary. However, the court accepted the prosecution’s request and extended his custody until September 1.

Arrest and charges

Rehman was arrested on August 17 at Lahore Airport, allegedly while attempting to travel abroad, after his name was placed on the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL).

The FIR, lodged by the NCCIA Lahore, cites sections 13 (Electronic Forgery), 14 (Electronic Fraud), 25 (Spamming) and 26 (Spoofing) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, along with sections 294-B (Offering prize in connection with trade) and 420 (Cheating) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Investigators allege the 26-year-old influencer promoted betting platforms such as Binomo, 1xBet, Bet365 and B9 Game through his YouTube and social media channels, benefitting financially while viewers suffered losses. Authorities say they have identified at least 27 promotional videos linked to him.

Previous run-ins with law

Rehman, who recently posted about buying a house from his “hard work”, has previously drawn police attention. Earlier this year, he was booked by Motorway Police in Rawalpindi for performing dangerous stunts while driving. In 2024, he and his wife, fellow influencer Aroob Jatoi, were detained in Lahore’s Model Town for displaying firearms on social media.

Officials said further proceedings in the gambling apps case are expected in the coming weeks.
