Commodore Sohail Ahmad Azmie takes charge as COMCEP

LAHORE: Commodore Sohail Ahmad Azmie on Thursday assumed command as Commander Central Punjab (COMCEP) at a ceremony held at the Naval Complex Walton. Rear Admiral Jawad Ahmed handed over the command to the newly appointed officer.

Commissioned into the operations branch of the Pakistan Navy in 1996, Commodore Sohail Ahmad Azmie has held a wide range of command and staff positions during his career. These include commanding officer of PNS Nasr, commander AUXMIN-9 Squadron, commandant of the Pakistan Naval Academy, assistant chief of naval staff (operational plans), commander Combined Task Force 151 at the Combined Maritime Forces in Bahrain, and deputy commandant and chief instructor at the Pakistan Navy War College.

An alumnus of the Pakistan Navy War College and the National Defence University, he has been decorated with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) in recognition of his services.

At the change of command ceremony, the commodore was presented with a guard of honour and introduced to staff officers of Headquarters COMCEP and the Pakistan Navy War College. COMCEP oversees all navy units from Bahawalpur to Wazirabad, while also serving as commandant of the navy war college in Lahore.
