ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus General Assembly took an unexpected turn when a cockroach was reportedly found in the meal served to members.

Members of the National Assembly expressed serious concern over the unhygienic food being provided during parliamentary sessions.

MNA Naeema Kishwar said that this was not the first time such an incident had occurred. “Previously too, cockroaches were found in the food. Even today, insects have been discovered in the meal,” she stated.

She further remarked, “We are concerned about the health of our people and ourselves, yet the food being served here is of such poor quality.”

Other lawmakers also voiced their worries regarding the lack of proper sanitation and food safety in the parliamentary cafeteria, calling for immediate improvement in hygiene standards.

Earlier as well, a live cockroach was spotted crawling on a piece of bread placed on the dining table in the Parliament House cafeteria, following which the Speaker of the National Assembly had taken notice and cancelled the café’s contract.
