LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled key details of the much-anticipated Murree Glass Train project, calling it a major step towards promoting eco-tourism and easing traffic congestion on the hill station’s busy roads.

According to information shared on her official social media account, the glass train will operate between Islamabad’s Lake View Park and Murree Bus Stop. The route will include four stations: Lake View Park, Chattar Park, Ghoda Gali, and near Murree Bus Stop.
Two ticket categories have been introduced. Standard tickets will cost Rs500, while premium tickets will be available for Rs1,000. The journey from Islamabad to Murree is expected to take only 40 minutes.

Officials said the train will run on electricity, making it an environmentally friendly transport option. However, the government has not yet announced the official launch date of the service.
The project is expected to boost tourism in Murree by improving accessibility and offering panoramic views of forests, hills and scenic landscapes along the route. It is also aimed at reducing traffic pressure during peak tourist seasons and lowering vehicle emissions in the region.
