LAHORE: In a major development for over 16,000 teachers serving in government schools across Punjab, the provincial education department has declared the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree equivalent to 16 years of education.
According to an official notification issued by the department, BS degree-holders will now be eligible for departmental promotions. Their cases will be considered in the upcoming meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC).

Previously, only teachers holding MA or MSc degrees were included in the seniority lists for promotions, while BS degree-holders were excluded from the process. The latest move ends that disparity, granting equal opportunity for career advancement to BS graduates.
