BISE Lahore introduces biometric attendance system for exams

Lahore

LAHORE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore on Tuesday launched a biometric attendance system for students appearing in examinations, in a bid to enhance transparency and prevent impersonation.

A spokesperson for the board said the new system has been rolled out during the ongoing Intermediate Second Annual Examinations, where attendance is now recorded automatically through fingerprint verification.

Over 35,000 candidates are participating in the current session, the spokesperson said, adding that the biometric verification would ensure no student appears on someone else’s behalf.

Officials warned that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to use a fake identity in the exams.

The BISE Lahore said the new system would make the process more transparent, organised, and secure, promoting merit across the board.

The scope of the biometric attendance system will soon be expanded to matriculation exams, officials confirmed, as part of efforts to eliminate corruption at all levels of the examination process.
